Default model 60 shipping date

Can anyone help me find an approximate shipping date on a couple of S&W model 60's, thinking of buying the 2 revolvers and the man wants $1000 for the pair, any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks sorry no pics just serial #'s
one is CAP06## and the other is ANP94##

Others here may get you closer, but ANP looks to be an early 1986 production gun, and CAP would be early 1996. The latter gun is more likely a 60-7. Hope this is helpful.

I've no idea of the shipping date, but with those 3 letter prefix serials, they are most likely produced in the 1980s at least.

S&W didn't ship or produce in numeric order. Sometimes guns were produced and maybe sat for a while prior to shipping. All based on demand. I understand the allure of when it was "made", but another hitch in the time line is almost all guns are now shipped to distributors. They in turn then ship to retailers. Who sell as soon as some buyer comes in and wants it. But guns also can sit for a year or so depending on where they went. I guess the production time frame is important to gauge the original selling price. From that a guess of early to mid 1980s will be a good one.
