The following is just from my personal observations in the southeast. I have no data or reference material to back it up.

That said, I'm wondering in what design change or dash series were the most 8 3/8 in barrel Mod 17s produced? My observations indicate that likely more Mod 17-4s were produced with the 8 3/8 in barrel than any other dash series. In addition, I've observed more pinned Mod 17-4s with the 8 3/8 in barrel than non-pinned Mod 17-4s.

Also, based on my personal observations the total production of 8 3/8 inch barrel Mod 17s would be only approximately 20 per cent or less of the the total Mod 17 production numbers.

I'm just curious. If anyone cares about such trivia, I would like to know your observations or thoughts? Thanks in advance!
