Default S&W Model 10-2

I'm new here and I have a model 10-2, serial #C562045. Can someone tell me the date of manufacture? I also have an old M&P .38 spl my Grandfather carried in WWII. I bought it from him in about 1972. He was 4F and worked at an Armory, as security, in Portland Oregon. My mother has it, for personal protection at the moment, so when I can I'll list the serial # for it. I'm always on the lookout for old 38s, guess I've been bitten too.

C474,149 – C622,699…….1961 – 62. (One of the real experts may be able to narrow it down further).

The 10-2 was made for a short period of time and is an uncommon variation. A .38 Military & Police from the WW II era may be an earlier commercial gun or a war-era Victory Model; the latter would have a V serial number prefix.

The early S&W serial # is 271277. It's 38 S&W special, US Service CTG, 4 screw with an additional screw at the front of the grip at the bottom. It had a 5" barrel but the forcing cone was cracked and I had it replaced with the only barrel I could find, a 6". I couldn't find a gunsmith who could repair the crack. I'd like to have it repaired but if not I'll have the original 5" barrel reinstalled and hang it on the wall.
