Just a nice find 15-3
Yesterday was a beautiful day here I cant believe I am saying that it was 7 degrees but the sun had power. It just seemed like a good day than it got even better. I deal with a Large awesome sporting goods store Jays in Clare MI.
I was dropping off some info and as usual I stopped and checked in the used guns and there she was.
Not a safe queen but a very nice shooter grade 15-3
It was 300.00 plus tax (I cant buy a Taurus for that)
I have a few 15s but...
One gun I truly regret selling was a 15 with 8 3/8in barrel. I bought new in 87 or 88 (when I was a Ladd) I couldn't hit a barn with it my friend could. I should have kept it. I have come to believe that 15s with a 4in barrel just balance wonderful. When I take out a new shooter I usually bring a pre model 18 a model 15 and a Glock 17L I think it really shows quite a range of our sport without huge kickers.
It topped off a good week. A local shop was holding a nickel Buckmark target. I picked that up
If I was a Bond villain I would be Nickelfinger
I love Nickel guns
My favs are
Series 70 Colt 1911 with onyx grips (a true Bar B Q gun)
Nickel Python
Nickel 29 4in
Hank
The search for more continues I hope I never loose that special feeling of what I think is a really great find
Hank

I've gotten that feeling for almost 50 years now and I'm pretty sure that if it ain't gone by now,it ain't goin'. FWIW,I'd have been on that Model 15 like a duck on a Junebug! Congrats!

There is no such thing as having too many . . .
Great purchase, especially for that price! I would have snatched it up in a nanosecond.

Officer, stop that man! He stole that fine revolver!
Great price on one of my all-time favorite guns. I paid that over ten years ago for an unfired one from an estate consignment.

Nice 15-3, looks to be an early 70's gun with large frame ampersand ?
If you post the serial we can give you an approximate DOB.

I'll say it's was a great deal. I think the Model 15 is my favorite S&W.
Enjoy it.

I would have bought that in a heart beat, even if I had a whole slew of 15's! You did quite well! Don't have a 15, but do have a 67 no dash from 1973. Great shooter. The only thing that I found at Jay's in Gaylord was large pistol primers. It was their last box! Enjoy the 15! Bob

Thanks for all the response
I would like to say that THIS forum (I am on a few)
has much Wisdom and its great that the precident has been set "if you cant say something nice or useful keep it to yourself"
It makes it a good place to be
No not running for anything
the Ser # K9963xx
Looking at the Stand Catalog of S&W judging be the grips newer than 68 I assume the mid 70s

Model 15's are nice
Nothing wrong with having an extra 15.
I have a 2" and a 4". I had a 6" barrel Model 15 once (they only made it for a short while) and like an idiot sold or traded it! I doubt I'll see another.

You did better than good
A week ago I paid $599 for a 15-3 LNIB with papers tools box and felt I got a good deal.

I feel relatively sure I need my head examined but a couple years back, IIRC, I sold a like new 15-3 to a member here. Absolutely the most accurate hand gun I've owned. Why I sold it is still a mystery. If I could do it all over again.....

Hank it probably shipped in late 1970, to mid 1971.
Combat Masterpieces and Magnums are my favorites !

Great score. I like the .38 Special caliber and am partial to revolvers in that caliber; not so much the .357's to fire .38's. Just me.

I just saw one posted on my local gun trader board for $350, it was a 15-3, no box. I already have a 15-2 with box and all.
