Recently I inherited a Model 29 from my the estate of my father. I have no paperwork for the firearm. How do I find the year of production for my S & W Model 29 Serial Number ADJ XXXX?

If you post more of the serial number and replace the last two digits with Xs,someone will look it up.

I am no expert with this type of serial number, but I would guess your 29-3 dates to sometime in 1983. You could call S&W at 1-800-331-0852 and ask the company.

ADY would be Alaska Statehood. I don't see ADJ prefix anywhere in the book. Seems like it should start with an "N". Somebody else will chime in if they know more.
