66-1 coming home
**This dated to 1980 so a new thread with photos is in that section.**
I found a 2.5" 66-1 in a local shop, supposedly former l.e.o.'s gun-looks like it, has the ugly square butt Pach Signature grips-I'll put on the Eagle Secret Service grips currently riding on my snub 686, has a bit of wear but the action is nice as is the timing and lockup. Picking it up on Saturday, I forgot to note the serial but it is p&r so not a transitional gun.
The 66-1 is a gun from my past that I've been after for a bit. Wanted to get a 4" but couldn't say no at the price I'm getting it for. It's a little more shiney than I prefer on stainless guns but I think I can live with it.
Pics will follow.

Well done!!!! I'll never forgive a friend of mine for selling his to a gun shop/range when he always knew that I wanted it.

My M66-4 2.5" came with Pachmayrs and a -2 I later purchased came with the same grips. I didn't check to see if they were a standard issue but none the less I replaced them with a pair of Ahrends Retro ROUND butts on the -4 and the fit and feel are fantastic. I opted for the Hogues on the -2 only due to not being able to find a second pair of Ahrends in the style I preferred which in retrospect was a mistake as the Hogues feel a bit bulky and I don't care for the smooth medium gloss finish although I do like the tulip wood which is what drew me to them in the first place. I have a small to medium hand and the finger grooves give you a feel of really having control of this little beast. As far as stocks are concerned I think I am a true believer in Ahrends at this point.

Hello
I'm new to the forum. Just traded my 66-1, 4" and $100 for 66-1, 2 1/2" in vgc. Really like it.
May I ask what you had to pay for yours?
Thanks. Mark
