Highway Patrolman 28-2 6" barrel
Won this on a online Gun site, S&W Model 28-2 with a 6" barrel , standard hammer and trigger and target grips. Out the door at $450.00 shipped.
Looks to be in very Good condition. Serial No. N25XXXX . I would estimate about 1976.
What are you thoughts?

Nice! Congrats on the new "score." I've always had a particular fondness for 6 inch barrels in that caliber without the full underlug...seems like the Highway Patrol did too! $450 seems like a good price for my neck of the woods (where things seem to be about standard or above average). With tax I think they come in here around $500 and that's with some truly ugly grips. Good find!

I've looked at your picture about 4 times now.
You really got a "great" deal.
Does it even look fired to you outside of the factory?
The grips are rosewood on that 28 I pictured. It is my favorite 28 shooter.

That is a great price. Right now, the 4" version seems to be more popular, but for shooting that 6" tube is bound to give you more velocity and aid in controllability / accuracy for follow up shots, etc.

I think you got a great deal. I picked this one up a few weeks ago, not as nice as yours but I paid a little less. Hope you enjoy yours has much as I do mine.

So, I guess the $320 I spent on the the 4" M28-2 marked 'Pueblo PD' was OK?

I saw of wishfully priced model 28-2s priced at around $1000 at Tulsa gun show. I doubt they sold at that price. Although, I saw a lot of wishfully priced guns of all types.

I bought a 4" 28-2 off GB about 2 yrs ago for $425 plus the shipping. The gun came with original grips numbered to the gun. Not a scratch on the gun not even a noticeable turn line. I sold it to buy another gun--a 3" 629-2 and I've already sold it. What's wrong with me (us)?

The cheapest Model 28 I saw at Tulsa was a gray 6" specimen priced at $500. This is not a picture of it, but this is about what the finish looked like:
