Default 27-2 Price Check

I have a 27-2 that im looking at its a 27-2 S-prefix 5 inch barrel. German Proof "ULM" House 1968. S268XXX Red Ramp, white outline. Target Trigger, Target Hammer. Comes with a set of magna, set of Targets and set of aftermarket cocobolo grips.

Looks to me to be refinished, as the s&w logo is slightly washed out on one edge and not as raised as im use to. past that it looks perfect as far as polish. So it either a refinish or it was polished by "the new guy" at factory and somehow made it past QC. The finish is very good past the Logo being light. very little cylinder and muzzle wear. If it was refinished it was done a while back as the wear under sideplate and other areas show years of use to polish and wear these areas. no factory refinish marks if anyone asks that one

Ive tried to look around but with N frames being all over the place and they seem to have come up in price in a short time in all forms.

Thanks for any help, this will probably be my Bush gun with some heavy 180gr hardcast bullets. Just wanted to figure out a fair market value it I did try to pick up a 44 or 41 mag with it.

thanks

In this area(Michigan),an N prefix 27-2 6" will go for about $700 retail. That's in 90% condition without box or papers. The older N frames of any model are getting harder and harder to find around here.

Greetings USN ,

determining if the revolver was re finished is the key.

Re finished non factory then value accordingly.
$500. to $1000. with the additional grips as the boost.

If it can be determined that it is original finish
And S serial mid 60's with additional grips go to the $1000. value.

But, boy, it is difficult to determine a value without the pistol in your hands.

What is the seller asking for the gun ??

If the seller does not know, then who does ??

Good luck.

Allen Frame

In general, I believe that 5" barrel version brings a higher price than the 6". So it's got that going for it.

As the other gentlemen have said, it's really hard to say without being able to examine it firsthand, or at least via good sharp pictures. Having said that, if it was for sale in a gun shop in my area, I would guess their asking price would be $750 minimum.

Yes, they do but look closely at the red insert which i very much doubt is factory, as i have had several 5 inch M27's none of which was inserted.

I'll take a look at the Red ramp. Has anyone ever encountered a bad slight over polish from the factory?

I'm classifying it as a refinish or a bad factory polish that made it past QA. It's home with me now. 400 rounds of 357 the 2 extra set of grips. I'll try and get some photos up later. It's going to be a bush/outdoor gun so refinish doesn't bother me too much, and the fact half my s&w are refinished by me. It needed saving.

Some world travelers. 586(no dash) Munich proof 1983
And the Ulm proof house 1968 27-2
