S&W Model 29-2 4" value
I have a friend that is pretty persistent in trying to buy my Model 29-2 Factory Nickeled revolver made in 1976 with a 4" bbl. Here is a poor picture of it but it is in Like-New condition with very few rounds fired.
What might be a fair asking-price? Thanks.

Wow, very nice looking 29-2. Personally, if it were mine, I wouldn't even take it out of the safe for less than $1200 and it would probably take $1400 to get my attention.

Oh my ! Glad I asked as I bought it years ago for a LOT less than $1200.00. I don't really remember how much I gave for it but I am sure I gave less than $500.00 for it. Probably closer to $400.00.
It is a jaw-dropper in person! 44mag and beautiful nickeled finish.

Are you sure he's your friend? He's trying to get your pretty
toy away from you. Just let him visit it once in a while and hang on to
it.

Ha ! Yep, he is a friend and neighbor but, I like my "toy" and I will have to think about selling it. They don't grow on trees around here and replacing it might be really hard to do and expensive!

I don't sell guns, period. You're friend won't likely find one like that for less than $1300. Especially after shipping, transfer fees, etc.

There is no way in the world.
That you would ever get a gun like that around here for a grand or less. 1,200 or 1,300 is more like it. That gun will never be worth less than it is today also.

OK, thanks for the replies! I think it will just have to find a comfortable place in my safe and relax for a while ! Any money made on the sale would have to be spent replacing it and probably more money than I would get selling it!

Do you shoot it, or is it a Safe Queen?
Is it the prize of your collection or do you have several others you like just as much.
Is there a Gem in his collection you have your eye on?
a 4" 29-2 is not easy to come by. I'd be reluctant to let it go...

Hello Tom,
I haven't shot it in years but I have in the past. I guess it has accidently become a safe queen but, not intentionally.
I have a few 29-2's and 629's, including a 629 Mountain gun and regular 629 4" bbl. model that are wonderful shooters. I, also have a Model 29-2 with an 8 3/8" bbl. that I bought new in about 1975 with the wood presentation case that still looks new. The wood presentation case is mint and the original flocking is still great. The tools in the box are all unused and all there! Not to mention my Pythons in the safe.
He is a younger fellow and does not have anything that interests me. He is mostly into plastic pistols so .... I have plenty of those also!
I have a blued 4" Model 29-2 also and it is not in as nice a condition as this nickeled one but it is my shooter for sure!
All-in-all, I think I will just hang on to this one for a while. Seems to be like money in the bank.
