Default Finally found a nice revolver

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
Joined to gain knowledge before buying my first revolver.
Been looking for months for a nice shooter. Was on gb today checking on a 686 intending to bid it to get it. Stumbled on a "unfired" 66 no dash. Couldn't resist. Might be too nice to shoot? Anyway can always get a shooter later if I decide to keep as a safe queen.

Thank you all!

Beautiful gun. You are right, the shooter can come later.

Yeah, I'm with Chukar. I know there are those who shoot everything they own, but still.....

Guys that keep their guns unfired remind me of those of my father's era that bought a new car and put those clear plastic seat covers on them. The next owner got to enjoy them. Now, if a gun is a true collector item of considerable value then I understand. But, a model 66 is not in that category. As Dad used to say, "I got it to use".

If you've never shot one, why would you deny yourself the pleasure, now that you own one? 😉

Generally speaking, the Factory test fired the gun on every other chamber. Should be easy to see the tell-tale residue on S.S. revolver

Absolutely don't shoot it. Lord knows 66s are rare as hen's teeth. Keep it pristine and 50 years from now it will be a real treasure.

Um...you can wait 50 years, right?
