Model 10-5 Two-Inch Round Butt
I visited my LGS on Wednesday 29 Apr, and found this gem in the case. I picked it up yesterday (working seven days a week, finally got a day off) Serial number dates it to 1969. It's a strong 97% with barely a turn line. I've been looking for a two-inch Model 10 for some time now and my favorite LGS came through once again. Here are a couple of pics.

You certainly are lucky. The gun is a real beauty.
Isn't it great to find a gem in your LGS?
My 10-5 (square butt snub) was also an unexpected LGS find and I remember feeling how lucky I was.

My 10-5 is also a square butt, wanted a round butt but I found a like new square butt at a gun show and couldn't pass it up. I carry my mod 64 snub more often but I still like having the 10-5 snub handy.

I would have scooped that up too.
For a while a local gun store had S&Ws quite regularly.
Not so much these days.

Very nice gun. I wish I could find one here in California but our insanely restricted gun list makes it tougher and tougher.

Very nice pick up... I've got a "NIB" square butt from 1968, I often think of the time that snub nose was made... MLK, RFK and Chicago Democratic convention... What a time!

A round butt K makes much more sense than a square butt. It is the size of the butt that determines how well the handgun conceals, not the barrel length.

Mod 10 snubs are great. 3 screw, 4 screw, and 5 screw.

Here are my 2- pre 10 snubbys the one on the right gets a lot of mileage, the one on the left doesnt see much daylight. My preference is the fixed sight 2 inch and 4 inch revolver. You have to have at least one but it never ends up like that. Fredo excellent grab that is in great shape.
Enjoy Pete

Great find. I got one about 4 years ago.
That was the first one I had seen in many years.

Beautiful. Looks like a new gun! I have a great fondness for fixed sight Smiths, especially snubbies.

I've been looking for one of these guys for quite some time and consider myself blessed to have found this one. I visit this store at least once maybe twice a week (have been for at least nine years). This is the first two-inch Model 10 I've seen there. I've picked up a couple of other hard to find Smith & Wesson revolvers at this store as well. Great staff there too!

I just got lucky today and bought one from the daughter of a police officer who passed of old age. He used it as a back up. She even gave me his ankle holster with the gun for a steal price of two hundred dollars. I feel so blessed and lucky.......

My first S&W was a 2" model 10 square butt...over 30 years ago. I (shouldn't have) sold it a few years after I got it for no particular reason...

Love those round butt K frames, 3", 2", or 4". They look dead sexy.

I lucked into one at a small gun show a few years ago. I traded a 1980's Winchester 94 for it. It's my son's favorite gun.

Picked a nearly new 10 round butt 2" from a friend in April, wonderful gun. Now I want a square butt model 10 2" to replace the grunge 10 I currently carry in the truck.

These 2 inch snubs are so hard to find around here. I finally lucked up on a square butt C166XXX 1949-1950 in an easy 95% maybe 98% last year in a pawn shop and paid $250. It's the first one I've seen for sale in over 30 years. The round butt is much nicer, but I've never seen one of them for sale. I buy all over middle Georgia. . .about every pre 1988 Smith that I see. The older Smiths have gotten so rare around here that I am fortunate to find one every 3 months. I have a lot of collectors competing with me in this area, but I usually find out what they got that I missed. This year none of us have gotten much of anything. I found a model 31 nickel in 99% two months ago for $350. That is the one and only Smith that I have found this whole year (and it's almost June). If you have them (a lot of you do), hang on to them. They are only going up as they vanish from the shops. Even the nicer M 10's are gone right now. I have seen badly refinished ones bring $400 quickly this year. If I ever learn how to post pictures, I will post some. I'm kind of new at this right now.

The 10 is a great shooting snubby, I like the round butt most too.
This is a Seattle Police Dept 10-5, really nice DA trigger.

...my 10, new in 6-'78 for $119 + tax.
I added the grips, and hammer & trigger.
It's a SB.
{I show it here more than I fire it}.

I have a 2" 10-5 in nickel, round butt.
It is nice, you hardly ever see them for sale anymore. A lot of people rave about the J frames. I will take a K frame revolver any day of the week.

Picked up a really nice 10-2;two inch round butt...about a year and a half ago...... as I was looking at it I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen one in any of the LGSs......the shop owner said he bet it had been 10 years or more since he'd had one in his shop.......
I figure the sock drawers of "America's Greatest Generation" must be full of model 10s,15s and 19s!!!!!!!
Course with everyone here owning 2 to a baker's dozen.........may explain it............ LOL
