S&W Model 19-3 Value?
A local GS has a S&W Model 19-3, 357 mag, Blue, 2-1/2" barrel, P&R, correct wood grips, 98% condition with no box or papers. Any idea of a value. Thanks.

$550-$750 is a perfect national average. Buy it if you can. Mine is just a Plain Jane shooter. You will really like it. My 19-3 shipped Jan. 1976.

Here's my track on the model. Keep in mind better examples would command higher prices, especially with box, tools, papers, and so on:
Smith & Wesson 19 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus P. Blue Book of Gun Values (35th Edition) indicates between $325 in 95% condition and $650 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 102 recorded prices for this model gun from $417 to $1060 over a period of 5 Yrs 1 Mos ending April 26, 2015. The average price as of that date was $602. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $457.
The last 7 prices I have for this model since 1/1/2015 range from $450 to $850 averaging $662

Depends on where you are in the country..... and a free or restricted state.
As you describe it I'd guess most places it would be closer to the $750 than the $500...... around here they don't show up very often in local gun shops and when they do .......... they go fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't mess around over $50 and miss out on a great gun!!!!!!

I paid $700 for the gun you describe here in Maryland two years ago, and consider myself lucky.

Again in Maryland about two years ago, I paid $850.00 for a showpiece in a non original box. I smile and wink at it every time I see it.

Pretty impressive data 5wire! Do you track based on Gunbroker sales? Sorry if this high jacks the thread...feel free to PM me...do you track other models?

Thanks, BCDWYO. Several auction sites including GB and some other Manufacturers and models based on what I own, used to own, or lust after.

750 would be a very good deal for a 98 percent snub 19-3. Also 5 wire, the info you provided is that for just loose examples? Since the reason I ask is that I have probably seen a half dozen or so 19-3 2.5" models lnib/nib bring anywhere from 1100 to almost 2000 on gunbroker this year.

I don't know what you mean by "loose" but prices gathered from Gunbroker, Auctionarms, or any auction site, are only for completed auctions and only when I take the time to look for them, which is when I feel like it. That's why I use averages for the monthly tracks. I've seen very few at or over $900 that actually sold. I don't limit condition to LNIB or NIB. I select only those represented as 95% or better as posted in my track statement along with disregard for engineering revision. I change "NIB" claims for used firearms to ASNIB because NIB to my understanding means never before sold at retail.
Just for chuckles, I searched Gunbroker for completed auctions of all model 19s back to February 2015 (as far back as on file). There were two snubbies at or above $900. There was one higher but it was nickel which excluded it from my track.

I saw a 2 1/2" Model 19 in as new condition, but no box, at a gun show this weekend and he came down from $895 to $625. He was a dealer but he was motivated to sell it.
I still passed on it as the 2 1/2" barrel on a Model 19 just doesn't speak to me. It's still too large to carry concealed, and if you're carrying it in a duty holster, you just as well have a 4" barrel.

Based on the 98% condition I would venture to guess on GB it would have a large amount of bidders at a starting price of $650-$700 with the M66 not far behind in demand.
