Default Newest family member..Model 57 nickel..help ID stocks

I picked up this 1972 Model 57 the other day. I'm not big on the longer barrel guns as I prefer the shorter barrels, but I could not pass this one up.
One of the reasons I got it was for the combat stocks it was wearing. If I am correct, they fetch a pretty penny on eBay. I asked if he had the original grips and he gave me the set of Goncalo Alves that he had taken off.
The Goncalo Alves have a persons name etched into them and they have stickers that indicate N frame. I have never seen these stickers before on stocks and I want to know if they are factory or aftermarket. So, are they factory?

Here is the gun and the combat stocks. The combats look factory to me but the date is unreadable.
Oh, the gun is a joy to shoot. Very accurate. I paid $900 for the gun and both sets of stocks. I thought it was a fair price.

Thanks for help,
Hank

Regardless of what's on the back side they both look to be factory stocks in pretty good shape.

Nice find! Head to the range and set up some targets at 50 and 100 yards and find out why people like long barrel 41's. About a 4" drop at 100 yards with mine.

The target stocks given to you are not made of Goncalo alves, but are made of walnut (NT-38 stamped on the underside). Stocks made of walnut are more common to the Model 25 and Model 28. Stocks made of Goncalo alves are usually marked NT-430 on the underside. They are factory stocks.

Both sets look factory to me.....I have Combat stocks on several of my magnums and they help soak up recoil from the hot loads. I think that long barrel is just dying to run the steel silhouettes out to 100 yards.

Looks good, and great price for the package.

I took it to the range the day I picked it up. Shoots great. At 100 yards I was 6 for 6 on the steel plate. At 200 yards (I just had to try it) I was 1 for 6. Hard to keep the sight still at 200 yards.
I have a 44 magnum in the same barrel length but the 41 magnum is much easier to manage.

6 For 6! Wow that is good.....ok, what size plate were you shooting at?

I haven't attempted any at 200 yards....I was OK at 100 with a 12" disc with a 6" highway patrolman that shoots way better than I.

I can't wait to hear that you are 6 for 6 on a 10" disc at 200

They are torso sized plates at 100 yards. Later in the day we were shooting some 308 from an AR platform at 200 yards on paper targets and I figured why not try the 41 magnum. Got lucky on one.

Those grips look great, but I prefer rubber when shooting my 41's.

I prefer looks of the originals, but I agree with you. It is more comfortable to shoot the higher calibers with rubber stocks.
