Highway Patrolman
Gentlemen: I've got a chance to guy a nice HP locally. The cylinder face has the letter "H". My 4" 28-2 does not have the "H". What is the significance of the "H". Thanktou in advance for the info

This question has come up before. The "H" stands for Highway Patrolman and was marked that way so the craftsmen would not confuse them with cylinders to be more finely finished for the Model 27 guns.

Interesting. My 4 inch 'S' serial numbered 28-2 from 1970 has the 'H' but my six inch from 1979 does not.
