19-3 what's it worth?
Hello I'm looking for some help on a pistol I purchased. Just wondering what it's worth. It's a model 19-3 with 2.5 inch barrel. Factory nickel. Thanks in advance.

It is going to depend on the condition, but the 2 1/2" nickel plated Combat Magnum is very popular around here and elsewhere.
Post some clear photos and guys here will have a field day giving you their opinions!
Another way to look at it is that what you paid for it is what it was worth at that moment. You bought it because you thought it was a decent price for a gun that you desired to own. So you just set its value . . . That's kind of how the market works!

I paid $541 OTD for a 19-3 2.5 inch nickel from 1975 in the condition you describe from a LGS. Of course that was five years ago, they may have gone up a tad since then. Nice guns, enjoy.

Douglas, first welcome to the forum. As others have suggested any item is "worth" what a buyer and seller agree, at that moment, is a fair price for the item.
The best way to destroy any enjoyment of anything you've purchased is to second guess the purchase. You have a much sought after quality revolver, so just enjoy it for what it is
P.s. just remember you may not overpaid, you just bought ahead of the curve. Believe me I've done that more than once myself.

Pap was a trader so I have seen a bunch of junk (valuable merchandise) change hands. No matter what you sell later on someone would have given more for it. No matter what you buy later on someone will know where you could have bought it cheaper. It's your money and I think you gave the correct price for the gun. Larry

Two Model 19-3 revolvers. I paid $450 for each of them OTD; the 4" about 6 years ago, the 2 1/2" about three years ago. As far as I'm concerned they were both bargains.

I purchased this Model 19-4 (mfd. 1980) last October for $675.00. For me it was a lot of money, but I've been wanting a 19 snubbie for many many years. However I also do not think I was ripped off. 19's aren't very common anymore.

The beauty of the M19/66 2.5"
I think that $675 is spot on for the going rate for both M19's and M66's and have been following both online for the past year. I thinks yours is a cut above the normal condition and could have easily run above $700 so in spite of $675 being a lot of money you did well and in a year or so look back and I bet you will feel even better about your purchase of a classic out of production "K" frame. Once you get your hands one one of these you quickly realize what the demand is all about, I know I did with the M66 2,3,4. I just purchased my first sought after M19-4 2.5" in below what condition I aim for but am glad I did. It Has the same sweet action as the 66's. Congrats
