Default Guidance needed

I think they are asking too much but need guidance to help me walk away.

A 29-2, 8 3/8" in the wooden presentation box. Gun locks tight does not appear to have shot much, no shake or timing issue. It appears to have been stored in a leather holster for an extended time. The "modding" of the blue is very bad on the end 4" of barrel, high edge of the cylinder and bottom crane. The metal had NO rust, pitting or scratching. The metal is smooth as a baby's butt but looks bad.

Can it be easily reblued? How much? Will Smith do it? Is the wooden box with brass plate (100%) worth anything in the deal? The box has the screwdriver, cleaning rod (has been used), etc.

I think I can get it out the door at $600. At the very least it is a shooter.

Pictures would help...do you plan on using it as a shooter ? If the gun is in overall mechanically great shape, and there isn't any pitting ,then I think they're asking a fair price ( on the high end of what it's worth )considering the mottling of the finish.

Too bad about the finish. As was stated...pictures would help. Is it a factory box? The brass plate is not common to my knowledge, but possible. A "factory box" and tools are very desirable. Boxes can be several hundreds and new tools for a 8" can reach 100.00 bucks.
One thing to consider when pricing 29-2's, "S" prefixes are almost double in value over the "N" prefix. These are earlier 29-2 and normally were manufactured with "Diamond" grips.

I own several 8" barrel frames and love to shoot them. My "S" frames are not touched as well as some "N" frames.

Once you re-blue a gun, it is what it is. A beautiful factory blue finish is hard to beat for looks but if you need to refinish it, there are other options to think about. Maybe you might want to customize the finish to a cool looking??? And who knows at this point, it might clean up to your satisfaction and be a great shooter.

Yeah...the price seems right to me too. Especially if it has any of the good stuff already mentioned.

Brass plate? Either added or not a factory case.

Without seeing the finish I can't comment.

Don't buy a gun planning to refinish it. Financial loser. Buy a better looking gun if that's what you want. A shooter 4" 29-2 for $600 sounds about right.
