Nice 64! I had a 3" 65. I traded it off. Probably shouldn't have. Did get a nice 586 no dash out of it. Do have a 4" 64, and would not mind a 2".Enjoy your 3 incher! Bob

That is a great gun, congrats! I can honestly say in the last 10 or so years I've never seen a 3" 64 for sale in my area-at any price (some seem to go for crazy money online).

Nice. I snagged his twin brother a couple months back. Those 3" barrels are downright handy.
I'm not nearly as good a photographer, though:

I've resisted 64's for years. I keep telling myself I don't care for stainless guns. Especially those that aren't pinned, and have heavy barrels.
Didn't stop me from getting this one. It is a -3.

64-3's are the "stuff". 3" ones, like any 3" K-frames, are my all time favorites. My 64-3 has become my favorite hand gun of all time. I can't say enough about them - so I'll stop here.
Congratulations on your very nice acquisition, Cannonball. I know that you will enjoy it !
My 64-3. Not a "true" 3".....because I couldn't find one at the time. So, it WAS a 4" SB......which I've made into a 3" RB. Worth nothing to a collector, but darn, I love the thing !

+1.
To me, the 3 inchers are soooo much cooler than the 4 inchers that I've sold all my 4" HB's and, now that I see K-framers, am considering starting an industrial-size operation to convert all the old cop guns to 3 inchers like K-framer did!

The S&W collectors of the world would likely have simultaneous strokes....
But 3" K-frames ARE the coolest, after all.....

No reason not to make it your own. There's nothing particularly 'collectible' about a 4" ex-police M64 and they're common as dirt. The 3", along with being better in every way, is certainly not common. I bought up every 4-incher I could find(and afford), but what I really wanted was a 3". Finally got one but it cost me about twice what the 4-inchers were running. I've seriously thought about the industrial-size convertatorium myself,............how did you handle the barrel markings?

The barrel roll stamps were no problem. They were not as deep as I suspected, so I simply removed enough material to make them go away, then reshaped the barrel flanks to (more or less) match the original rounded profile. The heavy barrels have plenty of material, so it was easier than I expected.

There are some really nice looking guns pictured in this thread -- it makes my shooters look like something found at a rummage sale. Oh well.
