Default date for 19-4 / value

Came across a 19-4 while passing thru Las Vegas to visit the wifes cousin. Its a 6" nickel plated, target stocks. Standard hammer and trigger, no white outline on the rear sight, patridge sight on the front. Would rate it 95-98%. No holster wear.
She was getting ready to trade it in at a LGS when we got there.
Looking for a date for sn 68k8xxx. Also a value before she tries to trade it.
has box, papers, and hang tag @ 249.00 when her dad bought it.

Thanks

Looks like a 1980 production gun, and $650 or so if sold to an individual/collector.

1980 57K0001-91K6800

19-4 Introduced 1977
19-5 Introduced 1982

A quick look at completed auctions on Gun Broker for 6" nickel P&R model 19's (all 19-3's and 19-4's) that resulted in a sale over the past 3 months reveals the following:
$470 - 85% condition (?) - a few blemishes with "bubba modified" Target grips
$625 - 95+% condition with Target grips (no box)
$655 - 95+% condition with presentation grips (no box)
$700 - 97% condition with Target grips and box in good condition
$830 - 95% condition with Target grips (no box)
$850 - 97% with Target grips (no box)
$1150 - 98+% with 3-T's and excellent box with documents and unopened tools (about ANIB)

A fair price as described might be roughly $650???

I had not seen murphydog's response of $650 prior to my guesstimate so I arrived at it independent of that input. Murphydog is very good at judging such things.

Thanks for the quick replies, I'll let her know and maybe make a deal next year when we come back, since it will have to be made single action to ship it to California.
