Talking New to me: M12-3 (Pic added)

My best buddy and I were out haunting the local LGSs today. He was shopping for a new EDC gun and I was along for mere 'moral support and input'. I had no intention of trading or buying anything (Isn't that the way it usually is?).

Then I saw it: A nice S&W M12-3 in the dealer's case. I was doomed.... It has minimal 'whiting' on the frame's edges and approximately 95% of the original blueing and casehardening remains. The original grips are in excellent condition. The action is one of the smoothest I have ever felt in a K-frame. It gets better. I don't believe this gun has ever been fired. Carried? Yes. Fired? Nope.

Asking price? $339. The last two M12s I saw for sale locally were over $500 each.

It is a Model 12-3. SN is 8D671XX.

A thorough cleaning and pics to follow.

My apologies for the lack of clarity in the cellphone pic.

Very nice score!

That should make a great carry gun.

My wife is a 'revolver fan', so this one is hers. She carries an S&W 351PD daily. This M12 is now her 'house gun'. Momma's happy.

After a thorough cleaning, here are my observations:

There is NO wear on the ejector rod, NO evidence of cartridge setback on the face of the recoil plate, NO evidence of any carbon on the underside of the top strap above the barrel's forcing cone, and NO evidence of carbon rings on the cylinder face.

BTW, I've been informed that this gun was made in 1981, so this thread may need to be moved.
