Early model 67 with silver stainless sights and target grips - serial #5K178XX.

1972 date, correct?

Pictures in a bit.

Thanks in advance.

Mine is 5K14xx and has the black rear sight. It was originally a county sheriff gun from Ca. and is so stamped.

I bought one of these at a flea market 12-15 years ago for $200.00. I traded it for a model 64 with tapered barrel. This was The University Of Southern Mississippi Police Department's first issue weapon back in the early 70's. They had been unarmed until then.

The lowest numbered serial starting with a 5K is 5K6616 (1972) then it reappears as 5K6617 (1973) Not to confuse things but.....

Here is my dash 1, I also have problems finding corresponding serial #'s in the Third Edition of the S&W Edition, The best I can deduct is 1975
