Question regarding magna stock change
Is there a significant date when, and/or reason for, S&W changing the "bottom edge" of square "K" frame magna stocks from a squared off edge profile to a rounded edge ? Thank you in advance for your expert comments

What you're refering to isn't a design change, just differences in the
grips as they come from the factory. Guns like the tapered barrel mod
10 with fixed sights come with rounded bottom grips and the guns
with adjustable target sights like the mod 18 usually come with square
bottom grips. The rounded grips are sometimes called PC grips for
Plain Clothes. The idea is they are slightly more concealable.

Good information above. I think the official term is "modified" Magna stocks and the change started in the mid-1950s (1956?).

The so-called "PC" (plain clothes) Magna grips were first listed in the 1952 S&W catalog. Their purpose was not comfort, but to reduce the external clothing imprint when carried concealed, and also to reduce wear on jacket linings. S&W called them modified Magnas. They were pretty much standard on service-type revolvers from the early 1950s onward, but target Magna revolver grips retained the square bottom.
