1st run model 66 no dash
Hey guys,
Last week I scored again and found this early 66 no dash 4" stainless steel wonder. It has the stainless sights and sight ramp. It came with original matching box, all paperwork, a receipt, tool kit, and even a original S & W leather holster. Gun is in great condition and just beautiful! Barely has a turn line, very strong mechanics, etc. It hasn't been shot or handled much at all. I am curious as to what you guys think the value is on this piece with all this considered... Thanks for looking!

Still pretty new here...... Look at my join date. I would guess $1000-$1100 would be a decent deal.
Been wrong many many times though......
That thing is VERY VERY nice!

I'm too out of touch with values of original 66s to comment on that but certainly admire the gun. Congratulations on your new sixgun.

Congrats on a beautiful Model 66. Mine is also an early model with SS sights but the grips are nowhere near as pretty as yours.

Congratulations. That's a really nice example of an early 66 no dash with stainless sights. Value for model 66's pinned and recessed, no-dash and dash-1, seem to be all over the place from $400- $1500. It seems like complete, original, high condition examples seem to go for $600-$750 and more for the no-dash with stainless sights.

69HEMI R/T, none the less, another beautiful early 66 indeed! g8rb8, value wise, that's kind of what I was guessing ($1000-$1,200). I am very new to collecting S & W's but they are amazing pieces. This forum is great for asking questions, and sharing people's collections.

Thanks for the "like" Dkrueger17 and 629shooter. It came with the original box and all the tools and docs and I was very happy to stumble on it
The seller also had an early '70's Model 63 4" bbl that was pristine and I bought it also. Ended up getting both for under $900.00. It was a local FTF sale that went very smoothly. The Model 63 was a gun-only deal and it had Pachmayr grips on it but I bought some wood target grips here on this forum for it and I am very happy!
A picture of the Model 63 as I bought it!

Nice pair of early stainless guns,
Wondering how early the 66 is by serial or ship date ?
IIRC the Model 66 first appeared sometime in 1970 and the SS rear site continued up until around 1974-75 ish.

I bought a new one from the hardware store with a 4K number. Had to be 1974 or there bouts. Still have it. all stainless. I believe it was $181.00.
Yours should be early - mid 70's

Just looked at mine for the first time in a while! The SN is 4K101XX. That puts it as late 1972.
By the way, my Model 63 no-dash has SN: M1053xx. That puts in as a early 1978 build. Later than I thought.

I want to get a 66 like that too.
I have bid on several on Gun Broker, but the ones I have found that I have liked, have always gone for more than I had set aside.
I just missed out on a couple of good ones too.
