Brand new 19-2 snub nose
Well, by brand new, I mean it's pretty rough cosmetically. The action, however, is smooth.
Pictured next to my 19-3, the snub has serial number K686xxx, Target Sights, Trigger, and Hammer. It also had about the crappiest, cracked, worn-out S&W grips. The grips are pictured, and have the serial 352726. The grips on it now were a set I picked up somewhere. They change the round butt to a square butt, so I'm not sure they are staying on.
The price was great, reflecting the visual aspect and not the operation. My plan is to send it back to S&W for a Master Revolver Action Package and the Standard Polish and Blue. There is no corrosion, so the refinish should look great. I'd like to change the front sight to the red inset style too.

It is great to have a plan. When you get it back from the mother ship it should be a real beauty. The snubby 19's are so sweet. My 19-4 sits next to it's cousin, 66 no dash, in the safe. Enjoy!!!

Dave, ya that finish has seen better days. I'm sure the factory should be able to do something really nice with it though.
Remember to post pictures when you get it back.

Dave, The square butt stocks you have look great. I have two 19 snubs, one for carrying, and one I'm considering sending back to S&W for reblueing. Please let us know how it goes. I would love to see the results.

The Smith and Wesson website doesn't list it specifically, so does anyone know if the Performance Center will add the red insert on the front sight?

Okay, the answer to the front sight question in "No". They won't alter a front sight that isn't pinned. The rest of the plan is moving along, albeit slowly.
Smith and Wesson has had the gun for about a month and will have it for another three or so. I don't need it expedited, but I was a little surprised how long they're keeping it.
The saga continues...

Those model 19's just give a fella a nice warm

Please do post pictures when you get it back.
Good find there.

Performance Center work takes a while; I don't think you can expedite refinishes, anyway.
I can't believe they won't do a red sight insert anymore, that's basic bread-and-butter stuff...

Well, I got my red sight after all. A friend who works at a local shop showed me a snubbie 19-5 that I decided to bring home. The price was right, and after all, it's Christmas, right? It has Pachmayr Compac Professional Grips that feel good, but I may replace.

Why don't you have those round butt magnas restored?
For reference, here's my 19-2, supposedly unfired since factory. I'll bet yours looks every bit this good when you get it back.

Update
Smith and Wesson sent me a tracking number, with a delivery date of tomorrow! I wonder if I'll get any sleep tonight...
They were requesting a signature when delivering at my door, so I changed the delivery instructions to hold the snubbie at the nearest FedEx office.
I'll take pictures this weekend, so we'll all see how they did.

So after all this time, here's the unboxing of my Model 19-2 snubbie.
Sorry for the poor picture quality. It's a cold, rainy night, so lighting is an issue. The revolver looks great. They returned the worn parts they replaced. I made a comparison picture, a before/after of the bluing on the Smith symbol. The action is smooth as silk. It looks and feels better than my EDC 19-5 snubbie. I've added a family picture of my 19s.
I think I've decided I don't like the conversion grip on the 19-2. I'd rather have the rounded grip that is smaller and easier to conceal. On my 19-5, I'd like to change the rear sight to something that won't snag. I'm thinking the Cylinder and Slide Extreme Duty Rear sight. What say you?

I sent my 19-3 that a previous owner had cerakoted in for a refinish. I wasn't sure what to expect as I didn't know what was under the cerakote, but I have to say, they did an AMAZING job bringing this beauty back to life!

About four months. Apparently it's due to the volume of work they have.
According to an on-phone representative, they are not accepting orders for build letters. There's one guy there that does them and he's overloaded.

I had a great day at the range with the revolver today. It was tight before, but felt absolutely new now. I shot rounds of strength from .38 special and special +P, to 125 grain .357 magnum. I love the sound and flash of a snub nosed revolver.
I used Safariland speedloaders, and they all worked without a hitch. I prefer them over HKS.
Now, here's a question that's no doubt already answered elsewhere, but...
With a fresh reblue like this, what wax should I use to use to make her look her best?

Congrats on the refinish! Looks great. In case you were after a factory letter, The CSR was wrong on the factory letters; S&W is accepting them as of late Jan. Mr Roy Jinks, the S&W Historian, has caught up with some help. For appearance, a thorough cleaning followed with a light coat of wax works well. Renaissance wax is recommended, but any quality paste wax works.

Thanks for the intel, I've love to get letters for a few of my guns.
Now for a potentially stupid question: Where can I get Renaissance Wax? I've looked around, and haven't found it yet.

That C&S Extreme Duty rear sight is my all time favorite rear sight on my revolvers that will accept it. It gives me an excellent sight picture while being snag free and with no sharp edges to scratch or cut things including myself and my clothes. It is truly rugged and I think it really looks good on a revolver. IMO, you can do no better if you wish to replace your existing rear sights.

I've never seen it locally. Brownells, Midway, or pick your interwebs poison. A jar lasts a long, long time.

So, for the finishing touch on this snubbie, I acquired a round-butt rosewood grips today. This is exactly what I think it needed. I like it much better than the conversion grips that I first put on, especially since I already have a square-butt, 4 inch M19. (The second photo was taken before the refinish.) What do you think?

Beautiful guns! I have a lovely M19-2 snubbie I got a few months back that is a bit too nice to carry. I wish I could find a screaming deal on a beat up M19 snubbie - I'd drop it straight in a holster and run with it.

Just for the record, the S&W Performance Center did some work for me on a model 19-3 2.5" very recently. They by far exceeded my expectations including the red ramp front sight modification. Those guys are good!

Well, Isn't that funny? They told me the red front sight modification wasn't available anymore. That just figures...

Yup, it happened. I did ask for something that I thought they would not do which is to have the grooves removed from the trigger and have it polished smooth. They did, and it is nice!
Here's the kicker though. I had read that when you send one in they ask you to remove the grips and any other extras and I did. When I got the gun back it had on it a brand new set of the boot grips that they have on their website for $75.00, no charge on the invoice. I kinda like 'em on it, too.
