629 No Dash
This gun has been in the safe for too many years and I am thinking about selling it to finance some vintage S&W buys. The trouble is that I am not sure what it is worth in todays market.
I could not find any history on GB. That's right boys & girls another value question. I have never shot the gun and it looks as it did when I got it, I am the second owner. A 629 no dash. It is Pinned & Recessed, I believe a 1980 gun. Case is in fair shape no real damage, just handling marks. I would greatly appreciate info on it's current value/selling price.
Thank you

Enigma,
I thought I did a search for 629's in the completed auctions on GB, but came up with zip, must be operator error.

It seems like you want to sell this to get some Collectible Smith & Wessons. The thing is, the one you have is collectible. They did not make a lot of 629s that were pinned and recessed. You have one, and the box to boot. It is a cool gun.
If you do sell it, see if you can get at least $1000 for it. You have the box and tools which make that total package worth some coin.
Or you could post it on this forum to see if you can trade it for what you really want.

the 4 inchers and the long tubes in the no dash bring the most, just were not as many made as the 6".

The presentation case shown in the photos was discontinued by 1979 and replaced by the case with the revolver pointing to the right and the accessories in a compartment below (the correct case for a 629).

It's a very nice example of lightly used 629. $1200-$1300. IMHO.
A 4" gun would add $100-150.
Correct box $100-200.

Steve,
The gentleman I purchased it from said that is the way it was when he bought it new. We all should know that Gentlemen & Smith & Wesson often deviate from the norm. I have always assumed that the box was correct, but really never delved into the subject, as I am sure others have.
To answer your question: "Maybe"
