Default Mod-27..and Coke Grips

Quick question,...did model-27s or pre-27s ever come new from the factory with Coke grips, I think Magna's where standard but could be ordered with diamond targets. but what about COKES. I have noticed some members showing there 27s with coke's. did they come with coke's or could they be special ordered.................Thanks...M*

No.

Back in the day anything was theoretically possible but most likely any N frame other than a 41 or a 44 that wore "Cokes" (still wish we had a better name) acquired them from the dealer at time of purchase (meaning he had to have some on hand) or were purchased as replacement parts and installed by an owner.

Not impossible that the incorrect stocks were stuck on an N frame during assembly. A new 357 may have come along with "Cokes" because Joe was a little hung over and dipped into the wrong bin for a set of targets.

This question comes up over and over. "Cokes" came on 41 and 44 Magnums until 1967. No other model should have had them. If one does, it was either a mistake at the factory, or an upgrade at point of sale, or most probably a later addition by an owner.,

A ".357" Magnum shipped in 1956 to early 1966 could be special ordered with coke bottle stocks or diamond target stocks. However, I doubt if more than a very few were.

I personally prefer calling them 'Marilyn Monroe' grips, on account of the curves.

S&W referred to coke bottle stocks as "special oversize target type, of Goncalo alves, with S&W monograms".

You men have misused those cokes and must surrender them immediately! I will confiscate them until the controlling legal authority is located, no matter how long that may require.

Pre 27 that is a regular shooter. One day it will get a Patridge sight with a silver call bead. That ramp sight is a pain in the behind. If I am a sinner I do not repent.
