Default Nickel model 58 ?'s

Hey guys. I'm new to the forums. I have a nickel 4" model 58 N1152xx which is new in box. I'm considering selling/trading it as I'm usually interested in 4-5 screw or older guns.

How many of these were made? Is this a desirable collector piece? Rare? What would be a ballpark value at auction???

I'm aware of the search feature but didn't find any threads covering this topic, hence my posting. Thank you for the warm welcome.

I tend to agree with the $1K figure with the box and all. On an auction you may gross more, but be back down to that or less after fees. Every once and a while auctions will go through the roof, of course.

The thinking is that for the most part around 10% of S&W production was nickel plated. I wanted a nickel 58 for a long time but gave up when I realized I was unwilling to pay the usual asking price. Sort of a cult following with the 58.
