Found a nice 14-2 at an estate sale yesterday. Condition wise this is my best find to date. All numbers match (K75251X); included the box only(no paper, etc.) and a set of target stocks(?) that have numbers but not to the gun. Sight turn line on cylinder and muzzle wear. Other edges are dark blue. Polishing and waxing next.

Based on research, this is a 1961-1966 gun. I would really be thankful if some one can narrow the year(s) of shipment based on the SN.

The dash 2 is a nice find.
Here is a picture of one of mine, with box, docs and tools.
It is wearing stocks from the 1946-1952 period, but is otherwise all original. Bought it from a Forum member several years ago.

Appreciate the feedback guys. I will try again to post some photos later. This 14-2 must be near the end of their 6-7 year run just before the intro of the 14-3. It is the jewel of my modest collection.

Only the earliest target grips had serial numbers, the smaller style are called Magnas, your gun is late enough it most likely shipped with non diamond Magna grips.

BTW JP@AK your grips pictured above are the pre war style checkered Magnas that were also briefly used in early 1946 with black washers instead of the older silver washers.

Congrats, you will sure enjoy shooting it! I won a 14-3 a little over a year ago on G.B. It is a VERY, nice accurate Smith. Maybe you are trying to send too big pics? Keep trying. Bob

Absolutely correct. I just forgot what was on it at that time and didn't look closely at the picture I posted. It was taken a few years ago.
Those stocks actually are numbered to a postwar M&P that I own that shipped in March, 1946. They are back on that revolver now.

And, FYI, the prewar style stocks that shipped on 1946 guns actually show up with machined washers that are either silver or blued. This particular pair has the silver washers. I believe they are in-the-white, but at least one other Forum member thinks they were nickel plated. Here's a picture:

Very nice! The finest of all .38 revolvers, IMO. Mine wear a set of Herrett Shooting Stars that fit like a glove.

The Walnut Magna grips pictured to the right most likely came with your 14-2 in that serial range, The Walnut K targets in the pic were most likely purchased when the revolver was new and swapped for a new owner to fill the hand.

You are correct! The Magnas are numbered to the 14. The others have the lettering and a few different numbers. For a 49 year old gun it is in very nice condition.
