Default Model 43 Kit Gun Airweight - Info Please

Greetings!

I came across this little gem today by happenstance and took it home with me. I couldn't find much information on the fly and didn't see but one of these sold in NIB condition on Gunbroker, so I bought it on a whim for $550. Hope I didn't get hosed but the condition is perfect and it came with the original box, tools, warranty cards, paperwork and original box.

The serial is M795XX, could someone please bring me up to speed on the build date for this one and any relative info? It's my understanding that this gun is mostly alloy except for the crane and barrel? If I end up shooting it, would I be safe shooting modern ammo through it? Thanks in advance

It's probably an early 1976 gun, and you stole it at $550. Does the box show it came with the red insert front sight? It's a little unusual.

Some report sticky extraction with the alloy cylinder; not sure if that is due to the material or the typical tight chambers of an S & W .22. Should be fine with any modern ammo, even the dreaded + P .22 . Enjoy!

Yes it has a red insert on the front sight post and it has two letters under the special features portion of the box label. Looking through pics on Google I can't find another 43 with the red front sight. Nice

Does anyone else have a model 43 with the red serrated front ramp? The special features on the label has "NK" written and another small sticker also has NK printed. What does that stand for?

Great fun gun. Had one and let it get away.... would buy another if I found one in an acceptable condition. Modern 22 ammo is not a problem.

Yep, ya done good at that price. I would have bought it in a New York minute! The red insert is a plus.
