Problem is I have been looking for a 66-1 in similar condition as the other two snubs. The ones I have found on GB are either high and I wouldn't even own or end up in bidding wars at astronomical prices. The other I need is a 27-2 3.5 inch in excellent condition. Same problem there. I Have cash in hand for both but not buying a beat up gun at high prices or a nice one at astronomical prices. They are getting as bad or worse than snake guns.

The key is you have to stalk GB , paying particular attention to the Buy it Now auctions. The other key is when you find a good deal you can't think about it too long. I missed several like that myself. It stung for a minute or two to pay $ 1300.00 for this one but it's done now and I'm glad I did it.
I would respectfully disagree about quality S&W's increasing like Snake Guns, however. They are slithering their way to the Stratosphere.

Wasn't but a few years ago, some were saying I'm not paying $800. for a 3 1/2" barreled 27. They were wrong then, may be wrong now saying I'm not paying $1500. for a 3 1/2" barreled 27.

The guns are not getting more expensive, the dollar is getting more worthless.

If you are waiting on a deal for a M66-1 2.5" it may not happen. The most recent -1 I saw on GB had a starting price of $800 and it has turned over after one week, it is 90% at best and poorly displayed. There is also a 66 n/d which I have lost track of the amount of time it has been listed but would guess at least 3 months with a starting price of $1000. If you can give up on -1 and go to a -2 and up you might stand a chance of buying one for $700 or so. Here are 3 M66's I purchased early this year all in the 95% range, 2-3's and a -4. I got extremely lucky on all 3 but did spent some time following them also. I payed $500 for the -4 on GA and the 2 dash-3 $600 on GB, from private sellers that didn't know the market for these fine revolvers. That does not include the aftermarket grips or associated cost of buying online. Just plain old good luck on my part not often seen lately. A lot has changed in less than a years time.

I think our resident statistician, 5Wire, has his 10 most recent tracked M66's no box or extras in 95% condition averaging just under $750. Even that is starting to sound good. I would sign up to receive GA's daily S&W revolver email. That is where my -4 for $500 came from on a fixed price listing. There is no other way to put it, this M66 configuration is over the top in popularity but if you are lucky enough to bag one you will find out why. Good Luck

I guess deal means different things to each of us.i am not looking for an 800 gun. I am looking for a very very nice gun that's not 1600 or a 27 that's not 2600 and 3100. That what last two I was bidding on SOLD for.
