New (used) shoes for my HP
Just got these grips from a member on the forum. Test fit them on my HP. I plan to hard chrome one of my 4 HP and install these in permanently. It will look fantastic IMO.
Thanks

If you have 4 HPs you have good taste in revolvers. The hard chrome
I'm not so sure of. We don't all have the same tastes. I'm not sure
what you mean about installing the head knocker grips permanently.
I would assume you just mean for extended wear. You wouldn't want
to be unable to remove them. That bottom plate looks like a good
place for a little engraving of your choice.

hard chrome
This thread inspires me to consider HC my HP.
Revolver refinished in brushed hard chrome
HC a HP is an easier decision than doing it to my M27. I have a HC 1911 and i have to admit the finish is very classy and durable.
Poor choice of word, i meant the grips will be dedicated to the HC gun not permanently installed where it won't be removable.
Thanks for the comments.

I imagined a high gloss look. The satin look of the brushed hard
chrome finish is much more attractive. Your 1911 looks very nice.

Yeah, m partial to the brush finish and not big on high gloss bright finish.
So, 1enigma, you're saying that if I was to dress up a gun I should start with a beauty instead of a working gun correct?
I'm coming from a more practical side where i think refinish in HC gives my fairly worn M28 (finish wise) a make over with a durable finish and a side benefit in the looks department. I think this way because the working M28 does not have much collectors values vs my pristine deep blue M27-2.
Anyway, thank you gents for reading my post and take the time to comment.

I think it looks really good as is, but Oscar Wilde said their is no accounting for taste.
Hard chrome would certainly be more durable for holster wear so your money, your choice.

I'm considering Alan Tanaka in CA or Bob Coogan in Alabama. They both list their HC price for around $250. I'll go see Alan next week and will post detailed info after talking to Alan in person.
Thanks

Not sure what's the appeal of nickel is, I had a factory nickel 19-4 and it was so bright that one needs a pair of sunglasses to handle it and the nickel started to fleck off even though it was not used very much.

I took my pre-28 which has more wear than the one pictured to Alan on Monday. He recommends against HC on my gun. He said HC are more popular with modern guns. He checked my gun and found a couple of cylinders slightly out of time. He recommended that I send it back to the factory for refinishing because it would be more cost effective and they can fix the timing too and I may get lucky and won't be charged for it. He said if I wanted him to HC it, it would be close to $500, shipping cost (he has to ship it out for HC), disassembly, replace the hand to fix the timing, reassembly etc... Alan is a great guy with tremendous integrity. So, I guess the HC idea is temporary put on hold for me until I get some play money.
Thanks

I thought the satin finish HC looked pretty good but a $500.00 price
tag on it makes it look downright ugly.

I LOVE nickel! Especially on vintage guns that have been cared for. S&W really knew how to do it with that slight yellowish cast.

Not to go off-topic too much, but there really SHOULD have been a 'M628'!
How cool that would have been.

New Gloves
Just bought another M28 from a member f4tweet (a great individual BTW) , have to wait 10 days before it gets to go home.... With the sale was a few accessories, one of them is a cool SW holster.
License and Registration please
The gun I bought was posted in link below. It is quite nice, it has target hammer and target trigger (may be added later on, I don't believe HP offered those options)
S & W Model 28-2

I wouldn't be to sure of the TH and TT not being factory. I bought one in great shape from a pawn shop with both and a set of target grips. I posted it and another member also had one and he had the original box marked for the TH and TT.
