Coke Grips[genuine or repo]
Seen several sets of coke grips at the gun show this weekend. Is there a sure way to tell the difference between real and repo's some looked there age and some looked like new as I have noticed many members here have sets in mint condition as well. also have seen some grip company's making repo's just like the originals...so how can we tell genuine from repo.......also what was the time frame cokes where made..THANKS in advance...........................M*

Once you own a real set or two, spotting reproductions won't be difficult.

There is one sure fire way to tell. Look at a lot of original sets and notice all the
little nuances. There are plenty of threads that point them all out in detail.
I only have one set of Cokes off of a 1956 44 Mag. I use it as a comparison tool. I bought mine in the 1960s for $15.00.

They were produced from 1957 to about 1964; the repros will not be date stamped .

Check this link out on Coke grips. One of the best features this forum offers is the ability to subscribe to threads in which many experts offer valuable information. I have learned so much on this forum.
"Cokes" how do you tell?

I dont want to correct anyone, but I had read the Cokes were used on the
first 44 Mags released in Dec. 1955 at Sn. 130927. and on the 41 Mags.
I believe the supply was exhausted sometime in the mid-1960s.
If Im incorrect, pls. post.

I don't a gun with a set of these, so 1955 as the start year for production may very well be correct .

As I recall they were introduced on the 44 Magnum and that would be like Dec of 1955 for first units off the line with Jan. of 1956 for appearance in real numbers, no?
I have also never owned a gun with soft drink stocks nor have I owned a set separate from the gun. I have held a gun so equipped and they feel nice. Not sure if I would say $500 nicer than standard target stocks...

Just kinda interested...does anyone have a link to what appear to be pretty good repro Cokes?
Does that automatically mean Thailand grips?
Some of the Thai grips look OK, but after getting a set here and there, the escutcheons look like silver-coated plastic, and really cheap.
