Default Shooter-grade K-Frame values?

Curious as to values on K-Frame .38s in 'shooter' condition. I've been looking around on the internet and prices are all over the place. What's reasonable?

Need more specifics - fixed or adjustable sight, barrel length, and what you would consider to be acceptable finish condition (typical holster wear, metal wear or pitting, dragged behind a truck but mechanically sound ).

Well you can get used model 10s for around $300. I got a model 14 for $400 off Gunbroker a little while back that was a good deal. Was looking for a project gun and nobody was bidding on one with a poor description and photos. Got it and found it to be over 95%, but, that was a good deal for and adjustable sight K frame. SO I would say that unless your lucky

non adjust sights in decent shape $300 up
adjustable sights $400 up

Yeah, I'm not picky but that was a bit too vague. Mechanically sound, typical holster/use wear. Barrel 2-4 inches, round or square butt. I'm considering altering it to suit in any case.

Plenty of used 4" model 10s, 13s, 64s and 65s in the $300-400 range at present as you describe what you seek. 2 and (especially) 3" will run more than this in equal condition.

I just picked up a used four screw 15 from my local shop ( I am a good long term customer) it is probably about 80% but locks up tight carried a lot shot a little typical cop gun for $300. Same shop had minty 15's for 400 and a new in box for 595. Another local shop has a nice mod ten no dash ( still tempted by this one) in about 95% condition for $295.
My area is a hard place to sell pistols due to our horrible pistol permit system ( long story- advice never ever ever even think about moving to New York ) so I think prices here tend to be lower than free America

I would have loved to get a 15 like you describe for $300 as a base for my 224 Harvey Kay Chuck project. Will not be moving to NY state. My dad lived in Rochester for a long time and some of the state is great, too bad it is dictated to by "the city".

Those seem to be very good prices. I wouldn't even have to think about the 95% model 10 no dash for $295, it would be coming home with me,....... If it's in good mechanical condition. And a "minty" 15 for $400 would most likely be joining it. Congrats on good pricing.

Nothing is "reasonable" anymore ...... and everything.... like real estate .........depends on location, location, location .........

can't tell you the last time I saw a nice S&W in the LGS.....and I wouldn't expect to see any in shooter condition for less than $400 ...... and that would be for a 4" model 10

Anywhere from under $300 from PD trade-in or re-imported Model 10s or 64s to over a $1,000 for a 3" Model 66.

Something for every budget:-)

Lots of potential project guns out there, if that's what you're looking for.

I recently bought a model 67 for $350. It's highly polished and the butt modified from square to round, but It's sound mechanically and a great shooter. It wasn't a steal, but I'm very happy with it. Ive added some wood combat grips that I bought from a forum member, but the picture is as purchased.
