Default 15-2 snubby with mismatched #s?

I have a 15-2 snubby with a SN K614641 on the bottom of the grip frame, but number 79783 and a capital A on the yoke. Is the yoke original to the gun? It locks up tight and would not seem to be a replacement. Also year of manufacture? It has diamond magnas - I was told 1964. Thanks.

Those sound like assembly numbers on the yoke and mean nothing once the gat leaves the factory. Check the barrel below where the extractor rod covers and on the cylinder.

The number in the yoke area is a process number and bears no relationship to the serial number. It is basically a meaningless number. I'm sure your yoke is original.
K614641 = made in 1965.

Dan - that 79783 is an assembly number. If you take the grips off, you'll find the same number on the bottom of the grip frame on the left side.
I'm not suggesting you take the side plate off, but that number will be on inside of plate too.
