Hello all,
I have a model 36 Chiefs Special 38 that i wanted to try and find a date for. I recently gave it to my mother as her CC gun, but wanted to figure out a date just to tell her. This is a nickel gun and the lockup is better than my 2 month old 637! Here are the stampings:
-"N" stamped on the swing arm
-"88648" stamped on the swing as well
- "MOD. 36" stamped on frame
- "671591" stamped on grip frame

Mainly just year of manufacture and any other info that i might could tell her.

Serial number 295000 is from around 1962 and in the SCSW it jumps to serial number 786544 saying thats from around 1969. If that helps any.

Most likely Jun/Jul 1968 time frame.

She can go out with my 3" Chiefs Special, I'm sure they are compatible. Mine will be sure to have her home before 11
