I believe it is from 1964. The J frame Kit Gun was introduced in 1960 and is designated by the Model 34-1, as opposed to a Model 34.
Yours should still have the diamond stocks. Those lasted until about 1967.

Is the cyl release thumb latch like the top gun or bottom gun?

Thank you both, the latch resembles the upper latch above. Pistol is said to be a Model 34-1 .22/32 Kit Gun 'from the early 60s' and wears what I believe are its original checkered grips. thanks for your knowledge transfer.

That latch was re-introduced in 1966, so your gun was produced no earlier than that and probably in 1966 based on the serial number.
Enjoy!

I don't have any real close SNs on my list, but from bracketing those I do have, I can't disagree with the previous 1966 dating.

Yep. The latch clinches it. Not a '64 gun.

Since you are not the original poster, we have to assume you are talking about a completely different gun. Could you provide details and photographs?
It is usually best to start a new thread when introducing a new topic. Just a heads up for the future.
