Default New addition

I picked up this gem from the widow of a gun dealer, he had several guns in his private collection that she wanted to sell before she moved.
The gun is a 25-5 made in 1980 (serial number N677xxx), pinned barrel. NIB, unfired with presentation case, original, blank cardboard blue box and the shipping carton that the whole works was shipped to the dealer in. Here is the weird part. The gun had Pachmayrs on it when she pulled it from the safe, I asked her if there were any wood grips for the gun and she gave me a pair (turned out to be for an older N frame). So now I need to find an original pair of grips.

The questions I have are: what is a good price for an original set of 1980 vintage N frame grips, and what can I sell the grips that I have for?

Also what do you guys think the gun is worth? Here are the pictures:

The grips she gave you are worth twice (at least!) as much as the originals.

NICE! Those grips/stocks are getting hard to find. Prices have gone up too! I have a 25-15, (2008) and replaced factory grips that came on it with 80's target grips. ($50 ish, ebay) It feels better, less perceived recoil. I will keep the originals. My 25 has the lock, but low round count & super clean. Gave $750 for it last April. A deal in my book. Bob

Without seeing the auctions you're looking at it's hard to know, but the ones on ebay may be the famed "Coke bottle" grips, which yours are not. Of course, the ones on ebay may not be either, as some misinformed, or less than honest person often describes any diamond target N-frame stocks as such. Or, I may be an idiot, the jury's still out.

As nice N-frame diamond targets, I would guess $200-250.00 for them. Assuming no refinishing, etc,; I'm not good enough to tell from pictures.

Those grips are non- relieved targets. not many where manufactured and desired by many. I would put value at 400.00.

I missed that competely. Looks like the jury is coming in with the verdict.

I agree with black88's valuation.

You should give the poor widow those non-original grips back!
