SCSW says 1966-67. Others can likely get you closer with their lists of ship dates from factory letters and other sources. Looks like one of my truck guns . . .

Thanks guys. It's going into my LEOSA carry bunch. It's seen miles but tight . Once I've broke it down, deep cleaned , replaced rubber with wood and a BK grip it will fit this old school retired cop perfect.

That's a nice gun. . .good wife too. I'd work it over with some Flitz. Then I would use some good cold blue where needed. After that, put some oil on it and rub it in with your hands before wiping/rubbing down with a towel. Replace screws if needed. Your choice of some nice wood grips. That gun is going to look "great" after detailing.

That's my plan doc. I like worn guns. They have sole. She snagged it after I talked myself out of it. She went back and talked pawn shop in to 350 out the door

That's a good deal. I've got its nickel twin. Bought it new for an off duty gun in 1972.

Nice catch! The wife, I mean. You can get your own guns, but it's EXTRA SPECIAL when your trophy wife does the deal.

Is it a RB or SB?
Got my 10-5 for $205 + tax/transfer. SB and made it a RB with goodyears.
Not a pretty one, but tight and CC it more then any of my other K frames now.

That is an awesome gift...I love the snubbie S&W's they are great carry guns...I am an old school cop as well and prefer to carry a wheel gun so I know where you are coming from.

Rb. Got a set of former mdl 19 round but grips on way. A BK grip adapt and it'll be flashback to the 70s

Awesome gun. My 2" 10-5 is my primary carry. I love it. About the only thing I would "change" is to get a 2" 64 for inclement weather. Congrats on a fine firearm.

She's see some use since 67
Still tight. No signs of dinner table gunsmithing. When I wiped her down I noted an owner took the time to have his ss# professional engraved on the top strap. ??? I remember such in the 70s but under grips. First I've seen there. How about yall?

I have a blue model 19-2 with the previous owner's first and last name and Deputy United States Marshal professionally engraved and visible between the trigger and serial number on the left side. I think it gives both character and history to the piece.

I aggree. Some would dispair over the engravings on the weapon. I feel every ding, wore blueing, personal modification adds to the character of the firearm.

uploadfromtaptalk1454741581677.jpguploadfromtaptalk1454741593678.jpg ebay provided Mdl 19 grips and a Kip provided BK grip. Anybody ever rilun across a LE agency that put SS # on officer owned guns? On the top strap just? can't see a civilian getting his engraved there.

Revolver of my carry choice. I carry mine daily in a Rodek paddle holster, don't even know it is there. Also, great wife.
I have seen social security and driver's license numbers electropenciled into guns and it looks tacky. Your's looks professional as to where a police station may have done the engraving. I have an ex-sheriff revolver that has the county engraved into the side plate and done very professionally, indicating the sheriff office had the engraving machine or sent it out to be professionally done.

I only have one thing to say about owner applied identification numbers, stop it, stop it right now. Your S&W looks great, it will make a fine carry gun. I have a similar IWB holster, comfortable but a pain to holster or re-holster though.

Roger that . I have to plans to add anything but a complete takedown and cleaning. Holster is old Safariland for l frame. Extra low carry for concealment. Reholster is problematic but now retired. If drawn things be over real quick. I can pocket it when calvery arriving. No badge to wave. My retired one sets in case. No way I'm gonna give anyone ammo for a trumped up impersonating charge.
