Cant help with value with clear pic's. The serial# dates to about 1980.

How long is the barrel and do you have the original box, tools, and paperwork that came with it? All these have an impact on the guns worth.

Welcome to the FORUM! As mentioned, pictures are in order to get an educated guess. Sounds like a Smith I would like to own. I shoot ALL of my guns. I don't know if I could pull the trigger on that 1. Obviously an unfired example is normally worth more. Bob

I'd say the 6" was probably the most mass produced and I'd value it NIB around $900-1000

Like New In Box (LNIB) usually adds significantly to price. Mr. Candrews86's estimate may be low.

I'd say $ 1,200 give or take . Hard to say without pics .
For a nice 27-2 , prices start at $ 1,000 minmum and go up from there .
The 8 3/8" is the least desirable , and tend to average around $ 1,100
in like new 99% + with box . A six incher , a tad more ..say $ 1,200 or so .
