Are you reading the serial number from the heel (Butt) of the gun or leaving any numbers out ?

I doubt that is the serial number. You need to look on the butt of the gun. If it is a Combat Magnum, the serial number will start with a K (whether or not it is a Model 19, which seems doubtful).
If the serial number does start with an S, it is an N frame and therefore again not a Combat Magnum.

I am guessing the SN is S 80808 or a similar number variation, which would make it an early 1950s N frame .357 Magnum - pre-27 if you insist . Hope this is helpful (photos would be!)

There is a problem with your s/n since no 357s were made in the S 30xxx range.
Did you mean in the S 300xxx range?
We need pictures.

Pics of the gun, especially of the butt (grip) will reveal a lot. This way we can help.

That would be a pre model 19, named "Combat Magnum".
As an estimate, it probably shipped in 1955.

It is an early one (K260001 was the first in the series, but not the first shipped), and it likely left in mid-1956. Photos please?

Definately a "Combat Magnum" and like Alan said probably shipped first half of 1956.
Got the pulse up as those are my favorites ...
Wondering the condition as many spent their life as LEO guns,
Original football relieved diamond target stocks ? Factory box docs ? presentation case ?
