Default Model 13-2 3"

Hi all,
I just paid for a couple of 3" 13-2 s/n 8D73xxx ann 8D74xxx but have not taken possession yet. I had to pay some what of a premium here in CA but it is ok, 3" 13-2 don't come around that often. I'll eventually get letters for them but meanwhile, can anyone tell me if they were issued to the FBI or commercial.
Thanks in advance

According to the SCSW, yours was shipped in 1981. The model 13 was an FBI issue in 1974 and in 1986/1987.

I have a 13-2 from 1979. I picked it up at gun show in Sept. A 4 incher, but it called out to me due to condition, and price. It shoots so well too! Enjoy your 13's! Bob

I've never seen a M13, much less a 3", with the target hammer before.

That's pretty cool. Didn't know they made 3" 13-2s. Did you get them both from the same seller?

I bought them from GB, had to pay the FFL the SAO conversion fee. They both, after all set and done, passed the 4 digit threshold, ouch...

Love the 13 but within I had adjustable sights so I could feel more confident in using the speer gold dot short barrel loads

I bought a blue 3" M13 for my then GF... when we went our separate ways, she declined to sell it to me. It was a sweet piece that I'd hand carried to Springfield for a duty tune. It was FBI issue at the time & they were hard to come by.
I had to console myself with a 3" M66-2 which I still have... we've shared many miles on foot & on horseback. My duty gun at the time was a personally owned 4" M66-1... which I still have.
I miss that gun...
