Model 19-4 6" find at gunshow
Just picked this up yesterday. I only have one picture at this time, more to come. S/N dates it to 1978-1979. Pinned and recessed. I got it with it's numbered blue box, all papers, swab & sight adjustment tool. Can anyone tell me about the front sight. I've never seen one like it. It looks like a factory patridge with a red insert added. If it was done after it left the factory it was well done as it looks original. Also the rear sight is white outlined.

I can't comment on the front sight. I can say that it is a beautiful revolver though.
Congrats!

The partridge sight was standard on the 6" models. It's hard to tell from the pic, but is it an insert or just painted? S&W to my knowledge never put an insert in a partridge sight. Also notice you have target trigger and target hammer. It's a great looking gun.

The front sight has an insert installed. It is a very good job as there are no scratches or machine marks. From the side it is inlet approximately 1/8" in at the bottom then it is cut on what appears to be a 90 degree angle to the top of the sight and the material inserted appears to be the same as all my other red ramp sighted revolvers. I will have more pictures tomorrow which will show both the TT and TH and a close up of the front sight. I've never seen a patridge with an insert either but I can say this, I held it out and aimed and what a neat feature. I cant wait to shoot it to see how this feature affects aim. And BTW I will not be shooting it much because this piece is in beautiful condition and I've got plenty of other magnums to play with. Hate to say it but it's probably going to become a safe queen.

Correction on last post. That would be a 60 degree angle not 90. The insert looks like a 30 60 90 triangle when viewed from the side.

Good job at the show! It should be 1 heck of a good shooter! The closest thing I have to it, is a 14-3. Enjoy your 19! Bob

Does it have any notations on the box/tag as to rear sight, front sight?
Nice looking gun by the way!

In the right corner of the label I see RBTTT. Could that mean Red insert, blue finish, target stocks, target hammer, target trigger?

I found the 19 4-6" a nice revolver balance wise and very good with accuracy and the ability to handle all ammo......
Great find.
