How about a Best and Worst condition Smith & Wesson picture thread.
A little bored at work today,so I thought a tread showing off your best and worst guns might be interesting.

Hopefully the picture shows up. Both are from the 1961 to 1980 time frame. The poorly lit picture hides the fact that the 14-3 is LNIB condition while the 15-2 is in terrible condition. I was able to pick up the 15-2 last year for $200 as a gunsmith special from the LGS. There is major pitting on the other side of the cylinder to match the pitting on the yoke and frame under the yoke. The finish is worn around the muzzle, the rear sight is beat up, and there are rust spots in random places including the top strap, back strap, side plate, and trigger guard.
When looking back at the photos I had on my phone I almost find it comical that a casual glance makes these guns look like they could be in similar condition, but in person the difference in condition is immediately obvious.
Even though the 15-2 is cosmetically challenged I think the action is better and when shooting them back to back I shoot just as good with the 15 as I do the 14.

I think both a 98% condition gun,and one with a little, or a lot of wear are equally as nice. Thanks for posting those.

Hard to pick a "best" one, but my worst one is easy. It's a HE 38 Special made around 1902-1903. Beautiful original nickel finish. Actually the grips are pretty nice and likely worth more than the gun. I call it my boat anchor.

My best,
629 no dash, I cut the tape on the shipping carton, the action has only been cycled a few times to spread some oil.
My worst,
28-2 beater parts gun, great shooter and came wearing a wonderful set of targets and it was under 3 bills.

My rough-service, probably parked-over bad finish Brazilian M1937 .45.
Not afraid to beat the woods with her. Friend made me give him $200 for it.

Between 1961 to 1980 - Top picture is a Model 36 and is the worst. Bottom picture is Model 10-6 & 10-5 and is best. The bottom 10-5 is the best condition.

Best is easy, M24-5 Heritage.
Worst, well, have three or four.
This S&W 32-20 is poor at best....

Model 10-6 that saw rough service as a farm/tractor gun, was in such bad shape I had to put a bag over my head to take a picture with it. It's at the gunsmith right now having some issues ironed out....
[img] [/img]
Model 10's seem to be well represented in rough condition.

canoeguy, You did not need the bag because of the Model 10. It is because of the flamingoes.

CANOEGUY, you puzzle me. Why the bag? If anyone should be wearing that bag it is the person with the mint shiny guns. This world and forum is full to the brim with mint guns that have never been out of a gun safe with only a few trips to the range in a padded case. Yours and TARGETS GUY's guns have the, been there, done that, and got the scars to prove it, look about them. Congratulations, you guys have put some miles on your tools. When I was an elk guide I was suspicious of clients that showed up with mint new, shiny guns. Within a few days most of my suspicions were confirmed. Guns like your are always welcome in my camps. So take off that bag and take a bow, you deserve it.

Here is my model 10-7 with the most character. I was told it was from the Jordanian Police. The grips have been replaced with ones that are less used, and the Tyler Tgrip is new. The original grips are on the bench.
