Box for 1979 Model 25-2
Hi, all. I just purchased a used Model 25-2 (6 1/2") from 1979 on Gunbroker. It unfortunately does not have the box or paperwork, just the gun with target grips.
I would like to locate a period correct factory box for it, which I believe would be dark blue with gold lettering. I have seen a couple of beat up examples on Ebay. Can anybody steer me to a likely source of a box at a reasonable price?
Thanks!

This is the correct case for your 25-2. The dark blue case with a satin lining was discontinued in 1960.

I should have stipulated that I am looking for the blue, cardboard box rather than a presentation case. I assumed that some were shipped without a presentation case. Am I wrong about that?
By the way, Bill...IDK if that is your case but it is in beautiful condition.

The 25-2 that I bought in 1979 came in the case that Doc 44 pictured.

I think the case was a standard accessory for the 25-2 in 1979.

Mr. Cross, when a gun like the OP's Model 25-2 was shipped with the presentation case, wasn't the revolver packed separately in a plain blue box with no S&W logo, lettering or graphics ? My understanding is that the typical end label with the information was on the shipping carton rather than on the end of the box. I have seen plain blue boxes with the steel corner staples that I had heard came with the presentation cased sets, or were used by the factory to return guns that came in for service so am unsure which usage, or both, is true.

Walter, you are right!
I just saw several like that on Gunbroker. They were the most expensive ones of course.
Plain dark blue box, presentation case, and both enclosed in a cardboard shipping carton with the label on it.
The mystery is solved!
I am now looking for the plain blue box.
