Just purchase a revolver at a gun show this morning . Serial number is R45769. Need help identifying and history of this revolver. Thank you

It's a 70s version of the old .38 "Terrier" - not a .38 Special, a .38 S&W.

Thanks, just told that no one make jacketed rounds, would have to shoot lead. Is this true?

Probably so, but you might find one of the custom loaders who would make you some jacketed loads. The round is so slow that it is not likely to benefit from a JHP. The only advantage would be keeping the gun a bit cleaner. Remington factory .38 S&W ammunition was always very accurate in my 32 and 33.
