Default Sharing some 27s

The first is a nice 27-2 that I picked up from another forum member recently with my first Culinas. John is an artist, by the way. The second is a well used pre-27 that belongs to my father-in-lw. He carried it during his early years in law enforcement here in New Mexico. The stocks are an odd color. Not sure what the wood is.

My 27-2 with Culinas:

Pre-27:

Thumbs up

We all love 27's

Your father in laws grips could they be K frame size ?

I was having difficulty with the wood type.....some of the grain looks like a light colored walnut to me.

John makes some real nice grips and he is the type of man you want to deal with.

The stocks on the pre-27 do look a little small for the N frame. Could be K/L frame.

I don't know the wood but your father-in-laws look like K frame grips I got from CDNNINVESTMENTS. They were advertising as K frame presentation smooth grips.

The stocks are handsome but everyone knows how I feel about Targets on the 3.5" guns. Looks like too much wood to me. I think the Magna sized stocks are best on the short barrel models.

And to me the magnas look small on the big frame. But we have options, which is a good thing since our tastes are not all the same. The coke profile targets fit my hand well.

I agree magnas just don't look right on the N-frame.

Shark Bait,
Thank you for sharing your 27s. And it is really cool to still have your father-in-law's gun in the family. One of my pre 27s originated in New Mexico too (the one in the avatar).

I'm still trying to get the pre-27 away from my father-in-law. And his WWI Colt 1911. I'd like to find a nice 5 inch 27 now.
