Default Need help making new grips match a old gun

The old grips were worth to much money and the new grips fit my hand much better. This is a shooter with smooth grips but the shiny smooth new grips look stupid on a old mostly blue gone gun. I need ideas on how to distress. Pre wear these grips to match. Thanks

Cheap replacement grips on my 469 pistol went over with fine sand paper and gun oil, guess could do the same with wood
