Help identify these K frame grips? UPDATE with finished pics
(if this is not the appropriate sub forum for this, please let me know and I'll move it)
Taking a shot in the dark here, but I was hoping someone could help me identify the maker of these aftermarket grips for a K frame square butt. I picked them up at a gun show last year for a very good price as a refinish project for a Model 15 I have that had rubber grips when I got it.
They are unmarked as to maker, but a S&W grip screw fits. They are walnut with a gloss finish, don't seem t be cut for a speedloader.
Any help or guesses appreciated.
I'm going to start refinishing them tomorrow or sunday.
Thanks

My money is on "Home made". Not bad, but they just do not have that professional look to them. Doesn't mean they are bad!

I agree,......Mustangs. Every time I tried 'em, they were always loose on the grip frame.

TRE After all is done, go to H.D. plumbing dept and get a couple of small O rings for tightness to frame if needed. Nice project. Lets have some pictures after you screw it up.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll probably start sanding them tomorrow while I watch the Masters. I'll post some after pictures when I get them refinished.

It's difficult to see in the photo but the backside of the grips show a "moon eyes" mark in the wood, a sure tell for Jay Scott grips.

Thanks for that -db-,
Others have opined Jay Scott grips as well. They seem to be of decent quality, except for the ugly gloss finish, and are walnut.
Hopefully they'll come out nice after a refinish. Started removing the gloss finish today while watching golf, might have them finish sanded by next weekend.

Post photos when you finish. No pun intended.

Update
Here are the Jay Scott grips after sanding them down to 320 grit, I'll probably go to 400 grit on monday, then start finishing them.
The original gloss finish was a real bear to remove, I had to resort to 100 grit paper. Underneath, it seems to be decent walnut, nothing fancy, but good tight grain. I think they'll look acceptable when I finish them.
Thoughts on a good finish?? A dozen coats of polyurethane? A tru-oil finish? Other?

Light coats of Tru-Oil with fine steel wool in between, for the semi-gloss look, would be my vote.

Tung oil would be my choice (not pure Tung oil)

Here are the Jay Scott grips after a dozen or so coats of polyurethane.
I'm happy with them. Not perfect, but not bad for grips that cost me $5 and some time.
The M15 will wear them with pride I think.
