Default **VALUE CHECK** - N.O.S MODEL 53 22 jet 4" blue

Hi guys, I was hoping some experts could help me out on approximate value on a new smith I just purchased.
It is a NIB/NOS model 53 / 22 jet in 4" blue.
I will start by saying it is new old stock never owned by anyone and still in the inventory of the gun shop it was shipped to in 1976.
Comes with documentation from the gun shop owners I bought it from proving it is N.O.S and of course is fully complete with matching box and inserts etc all untouched and never on display or handled.
I know pictures say a lot but let's just base value on a brand new gun that is 100%.
I really appreciate any opinions.
Thanks, Dex

Well if they haven't been able to sell it since 1976, you paid what no one else would. What did you pay?

I would check GB for sold auctions - real sold auctions, not relisted. It would achieve the correct price if you have great pictures and you auction it with a low start and no reserve.

I consigned a 4-inch 53-2 to a dealer (it was 99 percent with box, inserts, etc.) who sold it on Gunbroker for $2375 several months ago. It shipped in 1967 and had diamond target stocks made of walnut.

This will give you an idea of what it may be worth.

Bill

Actually they haven't had them all for sale that long. They "hoarded" smiths and colts from 75-81 and just kept them in the vault and are finally now selling them all off so no I didn't pay what no one else was willing to pay LOL. I hope!
Thanks to the others for helping with value!
I hear the 4" is the rare one and I guess I didn't do to bad.. I probably paid retail but where else are you going to find the nicest example of a collectors gun truly untouched from the factory still as New old stock with all docs etc..
I feel ok as a collector paying retail for examples that separate themselves from the rest as those will always be the exception for high value in the future.
Thanks again guys and gals!

What else do they have in their stash? My M53 itch has been scratched but I still have fever.
