Found a 28-2 today, local gun shop. Paid $650. Excellent shape. Very faint turn ring. Serial number N252887*.

Im thinking early 1970s. $650 , OK price. The case colors on that hammer sold me. Grips appear to be period, Herretts? Good snag

I'm seeing the 6 inch M28's out these days for right at $800 OTD. I've actually seen dealers pay close to that. The 4 inch is another story. The dealers that do gun shows on a regular basis are indicating that they just wish they could find one. Unless something changes, I think we will be seeing the 4 inch 28's out for $1K really soon. . .probably this year.

Good find, sir.

SWEET-- I am about to be looking for a nice HP, but while you got it for a good price, my needs are a bit more shallow. I will have to find my local. CONGRATS!!!

Gee, I got my 4" way back in 1980 on McGraw Kassern Rod & Gun Club shop in Germany. I paid a whole $185 brand new. Of course I was making $4.65 working for AAFES so it might as well have been a grand.

Nice HP 4" great buy. Seeming these much higher but do to the unpopularity of revolvers there a fast buck in turn over.

My wife doesn't believe me when I tell her how much money she will get for my guns when she sells them.
I paid $190 for my 4" Highway Patrolman.
$189 for my M58.
$275 for my 3.5" nickel 1950 357.
$195 for my 4" Heavy Duty 38-44.
$65 for my 5" pre-war M&P.
$165 for a K38 Combat Masterpiece.
I don't think she realizes how much prices have risen and how much profit she will show for most of my guns. Hell, if I live long enough I may wind up a millionaire.

Just got back from one of my LGS's. He just sold a 4 inch M28-2 for $850 on-line. . .puts them up with a buy-it-now that hits around the average price for recent auctions, and they sell immediately.

Looks like a good buy at $650. I just recently sold the 28-2 I had for the same price at a gun show, I have a hard time keeping guns for very long ( always selling and trading to get something else I want). Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

Make sure she doesn't give them away. Or her next man will enjoy them?

This sounds really high. There are several 4" model 28s for much ,much lower than $850 online.

Good buy. My Dad used one from the 50's to the 70's. My wide loves shooting it with .38's.

Thats a more than fair price if you ask me. I got a 6" 28-2 in California before I moved to the midwest. I traded a Sig p220 for it. Been buying nothing but S&W revolvers ever since. Really wish I had found a 4" though!

Not my prettiest gun, but it somehow always makes its way into the range bag when I go shooting. Great trigger and handles .38spcls like shooting a .22.
It has a set of Kuracs on it and they feel perfect in the hand.
I squeeze a few Magnums off in it once in a while too.
