Default New Guy with my first three revolvers

Figured I'd say hello.

Recently got the revolver bug and decided that S&W was the cure. Was going to try buying new but after looking around I fell in love with the used beauties out there. So far, I've picked up a no dash 66, a no dash 36, and a no dash nickle plated 30. So from what I know I think I have an I (improved) frame, a J frame, and a K frame. The 30 is a three screw that I think was late 50's (serial number 687XXX). The 36 is a three screw from the early 60's. And the 66 is from 1976. I'm sure you guys know that this stuff is addictive.

Addictive? Naah. A few N frames will take of that...for a while

Nice start to a collection; many of us got there by picking up a few *reasonably* priced guns. That M30 looks particularly nice; can't go wrong with a M36, and a M66 is always a good investment. I'm sure several folks will be asking for a range report, but welcome to the Forum!

Welcome to the forum from N Texas.
Back in the 70's I started on the 'light stuff' ; a couple of Rugers and a few Dan Wesson's. Now I'm hooked on the hard stuff, pre model smith revolvers, M52's, M41's. It's a dangerous addiction.

Thanks everyone.

I knew NOTHING of revolvers, especially old ones until about 4 months ago. S&W somehow makes a gun that just plain looks good. I can't list why, but I know what I think is "purty".

This forum has already been invaluable in my "steep" learning curve. I'm amazed at the knowledge of so many here.

YES, I'm already looking for my next purchase, a Model 29. Hope my wife doesn't find out how much I'm going to have to fork over for that choice.

Well pilotalso, you have made three great choices for a "new" guy. It took me years to know and understand what I should be spending my hard earned money on. Congratulations! And welcome to the forum from the Land of Enchantment.

And good luck with your Md 29 quest. The good news is that they are fairly easy to find, and of course the bad is what it will cost you to take it home. Use the "investment angle" with the Mrs.

You picked some great ones to get started with. The "I" Frame is one of my favorites. Hang around here some and get really addicted. Welcome.

You picked up some nice ones. I found a little nickel M30 from 1955 a few months back for $330. . .beautiful gun. As far as the N Frames go, I've got a stack of them. . .they don't do much for me. I prefer to stay with the K Frame and smaller.

It is an addiction. There is no cure, just momentary financial inability to feed the addiction.
